Oni ha Uchi…?!

Update on the Setsubun festivities. After eating our big sushi rolls of eho-maki in the direction of South-Southeast we prepared for the throwing of the beans. Now one needs to have something to throw the beans at and for Setsubun one needs an oni (devil). So we masked our little devils.

They weren’t too thrilled about it till they found out the beans rolled around.

Last, one must eat the the beans, but only the amount that is the same as your age+1.  Sad to have so little when young but as one gets older…

Now we are all set against sickness and bad spirits for the rest of the year.
